Coffee Mornings

The Friends of Shephall Health Group run a coffee morning on the first Wednesday of every month.  The coffee mornings are held from 10.30am until midday in the Parish Room at St Mary’s Church on Shephall Green and everyone who uses the surgery is welcome to come along.

Tea, coffee, cold drinks and biscuits are provided free of charge and the coffee mornings give people who might otherwise be alone the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends, and possibly even explore and/or learn new hobbies.

There is always an opportunity to sit and chat within the group, and anyone who has a hobby or something they would like to share Is very welcome to bring things along. In the past our visitors have brought along some beautiful First and Second World War postcards;  birthday cards from bygone years, handmade knitted and crocheted poppies; both in commemoration of the human losses as well as the huge numbers of animals lost during the wars.  We recently had a quiz celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee, which everyone really enjoyed (and they have requested more quizzes in future).

The coffee morning details usually appear in The Comet newspaper, and posters are displayed in shops in the local area.  Anyone who would like to attend but just doesn’t fancy turning up in front of a lot of strangers on their own can contact the surgery who will arrange for one of our volunteers to make arrangements to come along with you for your first visit.
